Altogether 43 foreigners including 30 top amateurs and professionals from Finland are participating in this years XXV edition of Niitvälja Karikas by Dankse Bank – the oldest competition in the Baltics states.

23 professionals including last year’s runner-up Peter Erofejeff and winner from two years ago Niklas Dahlgren are battling for prize fund of 10 000 € and a name on the most prestigious cup in the Baltics. They will have to overcome the best of the Baltics and a former European Tour player Peter Gustafsson from Sweden who is defending his title from last year. For the first time a female professional Eva Baraschi from Switzerland is battling it out with the men.

In the PRO-AM played on Thursday Peter Erofejeff (Finland) and Peter Gustafsson (Sweden) shared the first prize on +1 (73 shots) as the wind conditions really tested the players.

Also 16 amateur men are here with the average HCP of 1,2 between them including several players close or in the Finnish national teams. Eetu Isomesta will travel straight from Niitvälja to join up with his national teammates for the European Team Championships Austria.

Niitvälja Karikas has been running from the first year Niitvälja golf – Home of Estonian golf was opened in 1993. Competition features four classes – PRO’s, amateur men, women and senior men. As in previous year – the field is full with 140 participants.
