A 16-year old Niitvälja Golf Club´s player, Carl Enn Hellat won the Baltics oldest golf cup to Estonia

« Back 10.07.2017

The oldest golf competition in the Baltic States – the XXV Niitvälja Cup by Danske Bank – was played on the 3rd day to the finish and in a very conclusive final fight where at one point the winners of all four classes could come to Estonia.

In the PRO class, however, Peter Gustafsson, the former European Tourer, who was defeated by Sander Aadusaare’s attacks all three days, firmly defended his last year’s victory. 8 holes before the end was Sander 2 strokes ahead, but the more experienced colleague took his own. The total score of Swedish pro – 5 (results 71-67-73) and prize money for the victory of 4000 €. Sander Aadusaar second – 3 (68-71-74) and third Peter Erofejeff from Finland +2 (circles 75-72-71). Danske Bank’s prize money of € 10,500 was distributed among the top seven.

The competition for the men’s amateur class brought the greatest success to Estonia, with Carl Enn Hellat, a member of the Niitvälja Golf Club, with the seemingly playful ease and the result – 3.

In three days, Carl Enn played 16 birdies – more than any other player in the tournament. Carl Enn kept his competitors behind the ranks of the highest average HCP ever. 2nd place went to Finland’s Dominic Jones, who repeated his 2014 year achievement with a score of +2 (73-72-72).

“The Niitvälja Cup is one of my favorite competitions, and although there was no chance of winning this day, I would definitely want to come back to remedy this mistake. The strength of the competition is clearly illustrated by the fact that three years ago I came to the same place, but 15 injuries with a worse result, which today would have given only 11th place, “said Dominic after the tournament.

In the women’s count, the title defended Linda Dobele from Latvia with the score +9 (72-81-72). Runner up was the player of the Niitvälja Golf Club Annika Meos with the score +16 (77-75-80).

The winner of the senior men was Jan Larson, representing the Estonian Golf & Country Club +23 (80-80-79), and the runner up was the winner of the previous year’s Raivo Velsberg from Niitvälja Golf Club with a score of +24 (78-84-78).

We will open the coming season with a new clubhouse

« Back 22.01.2015

The reconstruction of  our former clubhouse started in the end of October and the house will be given a complete makeover. The space inside the clubhouse will double and its functionality will also grow significantly – we’ll be ready to host golfing parties of different sizes and in addition to a round of golf, offer them nice meals in a cosy atmosphere; hosting seminars, meetings and parties; spa services and much more.

The following options/rooms are waiting for you in the new clubhouse:

  • restaurant with a new concept – a lounge on the ground floor that seats 150 people and offers a daily buffet selection and catering after competitions; and an à la carte restaurant on the first floor that seats 50 people. The restaurants can be connected with an indoor balcony, which allows us to host and cater for parties of up to 200 people;
  • a large terrace with a view of the first and the eighteenth holes. The terrace on the first floor can be accessed directly after the end of a game via a special staircase. You can have your first refreshing drinks and snacks on the terrace, wait for your fellow players and talk about the game;

Like every other golf club, the new clubhouse also has a hole-in-one wall of honour, history shelf and fireplace.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in our club – the home of Estonian golf! We’re planning to open the clubhouse on 24 April 2015.

XXII Niitvälja Karikas by Mandatum Life has 127 participants

« Back 10.07.2014

The 22nd Niitvälja Cup by Mandatum Life takes place from Friday to Sunday, 11-13 July 2014. It is the oldest golf tournament in the Baltic States. This year there will be 127 participants from six countries. For the first time in its history, the Niitvälja Cup, as the oldest golf tournament in the Baltics, will have a prize fund of 7,500 EUR. 17 professional golf players will be competing for the prize money, among them Finnish number one and two-time Challenge Tour winner Toni Karjalainen.

During the three-day tournament, competitions will be held in individual categories for both men and women. There will be participants from the Baltics, Russia, Finland, Scotland and England.

The heavy hitters of Estonian golf will also be taking part in the tournament, with the exception of Mark Suursalu, who is taking part in a Nordic Tour competition. Also, Latvia’s Artūrs Krukovs and Finland’s Jonathan Nylén, who until recently were still playing in the amateur category at the Niitvälja Cup (Krukovs winning it in 2004 and Nylén in 2010) have now moved up to the professional league and will be participating in the tournament. The guest player travelling furthest to take part in the tournament, Adam Sagar, is coming from the San Roque golf club in Spain. For him, taking part in the Niitvälja Cup forms part of his preparations for the European Tour qualifications starting this autumn.

Niitvälja Golf CEO Kristo Tohver says that the Niitvälja Cup symbolises Estonia’s golfing history and that every professional player in the country dreams of seeing their name added to the cup. For Estonian golf, this year’s tournament is a landmark event – it is the first time an Estonian golf club has offered cash prizes in the Pro category.

On 10 July, before this year’s tournament kicks off, there will be a Pro-Am competition for amateur players, who will have the chance to play with pros.

The tournament will be broadcast by Delfi TV, starting at 9:30 on Friday and 12:00 on Sunday. Everybody is welcome to come and cheer on the players on the golf course itself.

The XXII Niitvälja Golf Cup by Mandatum Life is a tournament listed on both the European Golf Association tournament calendar and the World Amateur Golf Ranking, where all of the participants can earn points in the world rankings.
